A Travel Memory

Kayaking is a lot of fun!

Kayaking in the open ocean is even more exciting and thrilling!!

Kayaking into the ocean's darkest caves is thrilling enough, but imagine if that cave opens up to a bizarre other-worldly panorama with massive mountains rising right from the waters? What will your reaction be?!

These are the moments that recharge us during our travels and stay with us. And it is without a doubt one of my favorite travel memories from this country!

We, like our gadgets, need to reboot and recharge from time to time. Especially now that the pandemic has slowed us down so much! Are you wondering which country I'm referring to? Check out my previous blog post for the photo story on how to unfreeze your life there!

Unfreeze Life - Reboot in Thailand!

Much like our gadgets, our lives, which have been drastically slowed down by the Virus and frozen with negativity in this pandemic, require a soft reboot as well!

Thailand, in my opinion, would be an excellent destination for travelers to reboot and rejuvenate. Here's how to do it.

Snorkeling memory from Phuket

As Phuket is reopening today for completely vaccinated travelers, and without quarantine requirements, here's a throwback to my wonderful trip a few years ago!

That was a time I didn't know how to swim but still hopped on the boat for the sheer fun of experiencing the underwater world. Those emerald blue waters of MayaBay glimmering in the late afternoon light was so inviting to make the jump. Thanks to all the floats and safety devices, it was so easy even for a non-swimmer (at that time) like me to do snorkeling and enjoy the colorful world of fishes and corals. That wonderful experience even led me to immediately learn swimming once I was back from the trip! Of course, there are so many reasons to visit Phuket and Thailand. But Snorkeling and the island hopping experience will be well worth it!

So, are you motivated to make a trip to Phuket soon? Let me know in the comments below 😊

Beautiful moments in adventure

via Instagram

On this grey, monsoon day, I recollect this beautiful morning (a decade ago!) when the #Sunrise view was spoiled by the brewing storm, but the majestic Machapuchare itself didn't fail to treat me with this wonderful moody view!

Such beautiful moments during adventures are etched in our memory forever! What is your favorite adventure moment that in spite of initial disappointment turned out to be a memorable one?

That view from the tent

via Instagram

When you have a cozy tent that offers a perfect front seat view of snow-clad giants, you only wish for the time to pause as long as possible!

Pledge to be Responsible this World Environment Day

via Instagram

To say, this is a scenic backwater tribal island with no electricity. But you can clearly see the impact of irresponsible mass tourism even on such remote places! Reality sucks, right?

Today out of 10 tourists visiting a place, there are definitely 2-3 selfish tourists who want all the comforts/fame at the cost of anything. They don't care about the impact they create on Nature or other earthlings. At least if we consider Nature as our extended family, is it fair to leave our family member in such a sad state at the end of our vacation? Does our vacation entitle us to create suffering and damage to others?

We are already way beyond the so called 'High Time' to think. Report says in the last 4 decades we have killed 60% of Earth's wildlife just for our own selfish survival. It is beyond high time to React. Say No to irresponsible mass tourism which is causing more damage than providing livelihood to anybody, don't fall for social media fame which is shortlived, don't fall prey to paid campaigns that wants to earn money at the cost of wiping out Nature. And please, stop expecting luxury while outdoors, just because it is your vacation. Act Responsible!

International Mt.Everest Day

via Instagram

Happy International Mt.Everest Day! This day, exactly 66 years ago, the Mountaineers Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary scaled the world's highest peak!!

Can't believe it's already a decade since I stood on the peak of Kalapathar in the freezing cold, staring at the majestic black pyramidal rock. As the Sun started to rise from behind the snowclad mountains, the golden rays were deflected by the towering mountains and it lit the peak of Mt.Everest alone so beautifully. A mesmerizing moment that made all my efforts to get there, totally worth it!!

With the current climbing season undergoing so much chaos and problems, I hope and pray people manage to realize their dream peacefully and the rest of the season completes without more problems.

River Hong Bao Celebrations

Featured post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

via Instagram

Fantastic pyrotechnics display over Marina Bay on the occasion of River hong bao 2019 (Lunar new year 2019) celebrations in Singapore!

This photograph is purely made with the best use of the situation at hand. While we wanted to reach the bay at least an hour in advance to secure the best vantage point, we only managed to arrive just 10 minutes to the show. We didn't anticipate traffic diversions and massive turnout for the event. In thorough desperation, I set up my tripod quickly behind people and requested them not to move and trip over my tripod unknowingly. Singaporeans are amazingly helpful and cooperative! The gentleman standing in front of me and beside me made sure they don't obstruct my view!

Unsure of where to expect the fireworks that night, I pointed my Camera roughly framing the Marina Bay Sands and the buildings of CBD, hoping to have some fireworks in the frame. Finally so happy I managed to capture this, even after arriving in the nick of time!

I will be very happy to hear what you think about this photograph! 😃

Alpenglow moment in Kanchenjunga

via Instagram

A beautiful alpenglow moment on the mighty Kanchenjunga in Sikkim Himalayas!

Trek to Dzongri La started at 3am, in the pricking cold. We slowly marched up from our campsite with only lights from our headlamps guiding us on a starlit night. Shivering and panting, slowly warming up with each step of the climb. After nearly 2 hours of slippery ascend, we reached the summit. The panoramic view of snowcapped mountains only seemed like a giant shadow against the predawn sky. But when the first light hit the peaks, it was pure magic! A moment that was worth experiencing after all the hardship!

Have you experienced alpenglow moment in the mountains? How did you feel watching the mountains turn colors?

Tranquil Tshoka

Featured post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

While trekking in Sikkim, I happened to visit this beautiful monastery situated right beside a small lake in the trekker's hamlet high up in the Himalayas - Tshoka!

Our gorgeous little campsite was a stone throw distance away from this lake with a panoramic view of tall snowcapped peaks. On a clear day, you can imagine tall mountains raising from behind the monastery and behind me. On this specific cold evening, we set out to explore the monastery after gorging on some hot momos 😁

With high clouds catching the dusk light, the lake and the whole scene turned orange for a while giving a nice atmosphere to photograph!

Have you ever camped in the mountains? What was your experience like?!

High camp of Har Ki Dun Trek

via Instagram

The mornings are generally very beautiful in the mountains. Even more so if the overnight rains clear before dawn and the sunlight manages to come out, the quality of light is so soft, clear and golden!

This was our morning at the high camp during my Har Ki Dun trek in the Himalayas. When I woke up early and opened my tent, I was greeted by this glorious scene! It was pretty cold still but I couldn't resist rushing out of the tent to capture the scene. The soft rosy gold light was scattered in all directions by the tall Har Ki Dun I peak that is seen closer to the campsite and the snow-covered peak in the background was drenched in alpenglow! I soaked myself in this glorious view for a full minute or two before deciding to press the shutter.

Have you ever been so excited to capture a scene that you had to literally jump out of your bed to grab your camera?? Share your story in the comment. Would love to hear!

The winter in Himalayas

Featured post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

via Instagram

Winter is a beautiful time to be on the mountains to experience snowfall and see the mountains transforming to a winter wonderland!

I remember how in one of my winter treks in the Himalayas, as soon as the Sun goes down it would get intolerably cold. We would layer up as much as we could and not move an inch from the warmth of the bonfire, and share a lot of travel stories with one another. Cheers to beautiful times!

So, where are you planning your winter adventure??

An evening in the old city of Hyderabad

via Instagram

As the cities are growing rapidly and moving towards modernization, there's almost always that old cultural quarter somewhere in the corner that still preserves the lifestyle and heritage of the city from the olden times.

While the city of Hyderabad is getting rapidly urbanized, there's still the old city on the other side that maintains the history and heritage identity. When you take a walk here, it is as if you are time traveling by a few decades to the past. From the iconic Charminar to various other heritage buildings, and bazaars that still have that old world style, the times certainly haven't changed here a lot!

Do you have a cultural quarter in the city you live in? What do you think is different there compared to the modern side of the city?
