Thailand with Lumia 1520!

Back from a wonderful vacation in Thailand that I won as part of Amazing Thailand photography competition conducted by Tourism Authority of Thailand!

Before sharing a detailed post about the trip, thought of posting a small photo-blog about the smartphone/mobile photography that I did (for the first time!) during this trip with my Nokia Lumia 1520.

Being a travel photographer, I always travel with a DSLR camera to capture photographs during my trips. Not being so much into mobile photography, I never bothered to invest time and shoot photographs with my mobile camera. This time for a change I thought of shooting mobile during the trip and sharing them instantly through my Instagram account (Yep I opened a new account now). After all the shooting experience with my mobile camera, now I will say I am totally IN LOVE with mobile photography!

Thanks to the 20 megapixel, PureView camera fitted with a dual LED flash, powered by a 2.2 GHz Quad-core processor, Lumia 1520 is no less than a compact point and shoot camera in terms of its power and capability! Be it shooting landscapes, candid streets, people, night scenes or action, it came in really quick and handy at all times!

Listing below few specific reasons I loved shooting with this Camera

source
  • Being a DSLR user, having total control on light and exposure is first and foremost for me while using any camera. Nokia Pro Cam with manual exposure controls was such a boon for shooting under varied light conditions during this trip!
  • With primary camera having 6-lens Zeiss optics and a wide-open aperture of F2.4, it was so much fun capturing moments in almost any light conditions. F2.4 came in very handy for low-light photography and moreover with built-in optical image stabilization, I could easily shoot hand-held many a times even in low-light situations.
  • Focal length of 26mm was very useful while capturing street actions and all day to day situations.
  • 2x digital zoom was useful at times to avoid clutters, isolate and compose my subjects properly.
  • Finally I thought high-ISO noise performance was very much acceptable for this small sensor size.
Now, as a happy customer, sharing few photographs from my trip that was taken using Nokia Pro Cam (camera app that comes bundled with Nokia Lumia 1520) and processed with in-camera photo editor for slight pop wherever necessary.

I hope you enjoyed my photographs and evaluated the quality for yourself! Now I only wish they come up with a camera grip for Lumia 1520 like they already have for Lumia 1020. This will definitely help in taking mobile photography to the next level using this camera!!
