One Zippy Car !

On a hot sunny afternoon, as I was waiting in the signal at Cyber Towers I casually looked at Tejaswi Motors on my left. This was my regular route for work and as the signal turned green, my bus started off. But there was something at Tejaswi Motors today which caught my eyes.

After a lot of thought, I decided to go and check Tejaswi Motors myself. On entering the showroom, my eyes fell on a sun burst orange coloured car. It was the new peppy zippy hatchback launched by Tata Motors named as Tata Zica. From that moment on, I was keen to get hold of this car and enjoy a fantastico driving experience.

I asked an executive there about the features of this zippy car. Seeing my interest he started to explain me in details starting with the distinctive attributes of the car. He described the technical specifications of the car and also what makes it stand out. The look and feel of this car makes it very different from the regular TATA cars.There were many new and exciting aspects which look very promising to me. With TATA, we can always expect trust and new innovation in their products. As the design of the car plays a key role in the decisions relating to purchase, this model launches what is called the IMPACT design introduced by Tata Motors. Keeping in mind the new requirements of the new generation and their youthful, energetic needs, Tata Zica is sure to have a lasting impact on the customers.

The second new aspect that I liked is the new Turn-by-Turn Navigation app. For someone like me having a bad direction sense or trouble remembering routes, this app would work like a charm. Like any other regular map, this app syncs your phone with the car's screen and when connected via Bluetooth helps with navigation. However what when you run out of battery or in bad network areas. But the difference between this and others is that this app comes to the rescue in those times with the offline download feature which helps with navigation during network issues. Each time you approach a turn, it provides an indication along with the distance for taking the turn and time to reach the destination.

The third best feature I liked is the entertainment in the car. Tata Zica exhibits awesome music system from HARMAN having 4 speakers and 4 tweeters. This is designed to give a fantastico music experience for all music lovers. Another interesting feature I happened to notice was the Juke Car app which makes effective use of.mobile hotspot and creates a virtual network. This will then help to serve as jukebox and as a main service sharing the list of available songs. For someone who frequently goes on road trips, this is simply a boon as it helps to keep playing peppy new songs and not get bored out of hearing from same playlist.

All in all, I can say that Tata Zica is the right combination of energetic car for the new generation and the youthful customers are going to have a fantastico experience with its impact design, peppy music, incredible navigation features.

Upgrading Car with Quikr NXT!

The new Quikr NXT feature from Quikr is really efficient and does wonders by instantly connecting buyers and sellers! In my earlier blog post about Quikr NXT, I wrote about how the new chat feature is better in terms of security and easy to deal with for both buyers and sellers. In this blog post, I detail about how I went about upgrading my old car with choices from market using the power of Quikr NXT!


First things first, I owned a hatchback which I bought nearly 5 years ago! It was perfectly fine for my needs as a bachelor. But now I found its space very limiting and also doesn't cope up well for my current needs to go on long trips. So the thought of upgrading my car was in my mind for a while. To start the process, I had to create an advertisement to sell off my current car. Generally this is where people get stuck because identifying a good price to sell a car is often a big problem but this is where Quikr's Free MSP calculator came in real handy for me to get a rough quote for my old car!

Once I got a rough idea of how much to quote for my old car, I confidently created an advertisement using Quikr! Within no time I started getting pings via Quikr NXT chat asking more details about the car. Some even asked for posting specific photographs showing backseat leg room and outside views to see the extent of dents etc. But the best part is I was not pressurized by someone standing on top of my head via phone call to get these details immediately. I could get these photographs taken and send it to them at my convenient timings. Since individual chat conversations were recorded, I could easily keep track of individual queries and the quoted discounted prices I quoted for those who showed genuine interest in buying!

Soon I managed to sell off my car for a satisfying price with which I know I don't have to put a lot of money from my hand to go for my upgrade. So with my reserve money in hand, I started looking for second hand sedan models that was under my budget in Quikr. It was such a pleasure browsing through various models at the comfort of my mobile phone rather than painfully visiting re-sellers and having trust issues with their stories.

Using Quikr NXT, I contacted a few individual sellers whose advertisement really matched my requirement. Over the day I started getting good responses for my queries. In fact I even asked a few sellers to send specific photographs for my needs for which they kindly obliged. In no time I was able to pinpoint the one which I genuinely wanted to go for. Since every chat conversation was conveniently recorded, it was very easy to go back and refer to any information that I wanted at any point of time all through out the process. It came in very handy especially during negotiations. Finally I negotiated my deal over the chat and confirmed it when the seller agreed to quote a price which was satisfactory for both. The entire process was so easy for both parties and required no multiple visits to the seller's place or repeated phone calls asking queries. We smoothly concluded the deal with one visit to the seller's place to test drive the car and handover the cheque before picking it up! Quikr NXT has made the entire process of upgrading my car look ridiculously simple!

All set to Get Set Bolt!

As I entered the Forum Sujana Mall in Hyderabad, I was greeted by a charming red BOLT shining from top to bottom like a new bride in her favorite red dress standing under the spotlight! Undeniably attracted by the sporty beauty, I headed directly to the arena where it was parked. "Hello Sir, Welcome to the BOLT arena" said the man standing next to the car in a very welcoming tone. "Would you be interested in seeing this new car sir? It's a new hatchback from Tata motors!" he exclaimed. Without doubts "Of course!!" I replied ..

This is a blog post about my observations from the short demo sans driving of the Tata BOLT car (Petrol variant) in the mall.

Since someone was already checking out the car sitting in the front seat, I opted to sit in the rear seat to check out the space and comfort provided for non-drivers first. "Impressive!" I thought to myself. Though a hatchback, I found a lot of space in the rear seat to comfortably seat 3 people. Such a trend setter in the segment! Even the headroom was quite good for a tall person like me.

But beyond this I was impressed by the legroom offered to the passengers seated at the rear seat. Also by scooping out rear of the front seats, they have actually provided more knee-room to the passengers. This is a careful consideration and a welcome change, as more often than not people seated in the rear seat of a hatchback are forced to go through the painful affair of squeezing in their knees to accommodate the limited space!

Next came my turn to sit in the front seat to experience its features. As soon as I sat on the driver's seat, I could immediately feel the comfort and snug that those seats provided. Demo engineer immediately adjusted the seat to accommodate my height as the previous person raised it for him being short. Steering wheel was easily adjustable too!

Interior felt quite sportive and attractive with the color scheme of black, chrome and silver, perfectly complementing the sexy external looks. "Sir, start the ignition" said the demo engineer. With sexy revving of the Revotron engine, it started smoothly! While I was still admiring the roar, he said "Sir, try the steering". Oh boy, that electric power steering with amazing grip was silky smooth and a pleasure to handle!!

Demo engineer went on to explain some of the features of the car. Boy, was I impressed? WITHOUT doubts!! Now let me tell you the ones I was impressed by the most, of course including and beyond the point about comfort and space of the car that impressed me first!

Gone are those days when one had to depend on servicing engineers to get the car tuned for speed or performance. Yes, Bolt with its multi-drive modes is unique and very impressive for its segment! By default the car is set to "City" mode to strike a balance between speed and performance. But when in need for speed, could just press the "Sport" mode to get the burst of power to zoom or for that mileage fanatic mood there is "Eco" mode. Whatever be the case, all these cool modes are just a button press away!

Next notable thing is the paramount importance given for passenger safety!  Apart from ABS with EBD and corner stability control, Bolt features dual front airbags to protect the driver and co-passenger in case of frontal collision. Definitely a well thought about feature that is great to have in this segment of cars!!

I couldn't believe when the demo engineer said the car is powered by a 1.2L turbocharged Revotron engine. Performance for a 1.2L engine to generate 84bhp at 5,000rpm is quite impressive!! Though I couldn't get to take out the car on a drive, the figures on paper are quite impressive. I've already booked my test drive. With such figures, I am sure it will be be a powerful driving experience!

Another impressive feature is the new touchscreen infotainment system that looks very trendy. Of course it is built by Harman! It should be. I tried pairing my mobile phone with Bluetooth and it was a piece of cake. I could then browse my phone contacts and play music directly from the touchscreen!!

Media control buttons on the steering wheel made it even more easy and the buttons to control my phone was also impressive. I was totally taken aback when the demo engineer controlled the system through voice commands! It recognized Indian accents so clearly and acted very promptly. I couldn't believe when I was able to control literally everything through voice commands. It is definitely revolutionary and a big plus for this segment!

Last but not the least it is impressive to have in-built GPS based navigation system in this segment. Yes, Tata motors in partnership with MapmyIndia has come-up with a Navigation app specially coded for integration between the user’s smartphone and the dashboard screen. So good-bye spending on 3G internet service to navigate through places and say hello to GPS based integration to explore your city!! Now that's definitely a welcome change indeed :)
